Independent bookstores offer us something that big-box stores don’t—a sense of community. Each independent bookstore is a unique reflection of the people and places that surround it. They bring us together through everything from local author readings to open-mic nights to book clubs, and they leave space on their shelves for small-press and self-published authors.
As we work on completing the Independent Bookstore Search, our goal is to make independent bookstores easier to find. By listing all the independent bookstores in the American West, we’re helping authors find bookstores that will stock their books, helping readers discover new bookstores to browse, and helping bookstores attract new customers that want to support small businesses.
